FOREHAND FLIP AND SERVICE RECOGNITION

 

Goals:

- forehand flip

- execute and recognize topspin serve

Needed strokes:

++ serve, forehand (counter) loop

+ backhand block

Special remarks:

- player A is a left-hander. So when the 15-minute-exercises need reversing after 7.5 minutes, flip the diagram around the central vertical axis!

0 - 15 minutes    Warming Up, for example doing some running exercising and light stretching.

15 - 22.5 minutes    -    warming up the forehand side 

Player A:

(Left hander)

1. BH counter

After a couple of minutes let player A play:

1. BH loop

Again after a couple of minutes, player A:

1. BH block

Player B:

(Right hander)

1. FH counter

 

1. FH block

 

 

1. FH loop

 

22.5 - 30 minutes    -    warming up the backhand side 

Player A:

1. FH counter

After a couple of minutes let player A play:

1. FH loop

Again after a couple of minutes, player A:

1. FH block

Player B:

30 - 45 minutes    -    2 x 7.5 minutes for each player    -    practice of the new or to improve stroke

Player A:

2. forehand flip, placed either on the wide forehand or the elbow of the opponent

<free ending of rally, try to gain control and score the point>

Player B:

1. backspin serve, placed between the wide FH and the middle of the table.
<free ending of rally, try to keep control and score the point>

<<Note: if player A has difficulty to parallel flip the FH pendulum serve, try serving with the BH which should make this flip easier>>

 

 45 - 60 minutes    -    2 x 7.5 minutes    -    praxes of the new or to improve stroke 

Player A:

if the second bounce (on A's side) is on the table, then:

2a. FH flip, either on wide FH or elbow

if there won't be a second bounce on the table, then:

2b. FH loop

Player B:

1. short topspin serve

<<Note: try keep the speed of the ball low and the topspin rotation high with this serve, this will create the maximum acceleration on bouncing>>

 

 60 - 65 minutes    Take a short brake and something to drink.

65 - 80 minutes    -    2 x 7.5 minutes    -    main exercise combining the goals 

Player A:

2a. FH flip, or 2b. FH loop

3. BH block

Player B:

1. short topspin serve, or

1. short backspin serve

2. FH counter loop

 

 80 - 95 minutes    -    2 x 7.5 minutes    -    ending exercise 

Player A:

1. topspin serve

2. FH counter loop

Player B:

1. FH counter loop

 

 95 - 110 minutes    -    2 x 7.5 minutes    -    ending exercise 

Player A:

1. topspin serve freely placed on the entire table

2. FH (counter) loop

Player B:

1. flip or loop or block

 

 110 - 120 minutes    Match play and cooling down
